专业介绍

The Philosophy Department at UC San Diego has a vibrant community of both faculty and graduate students devoted to the study of a wide range of topics in ancient Greek and Roman philosophy. This page contains information about the members of the program and lists a representative sample of the ongoing activities in ancient philosophy conducted by the department.

The department features one of the largest groups of faculty concentrated in ancient Greek and Roman Philosophy in North America. The Ancient Philosophy program’s core activities include: offering graduate and undergraduate instruction; organizing professional conferences and workshops; hosting reading groups both internal to the department and drawing on the wider Southern California university community; and sponsoring visitors to UC San Diego, whether graduates, post-doctoral researchers, or distinguished visiting faculty working in the history of ancient philosophy, broadly construed.

The members of the program are also part of the UC Cooperation in Ancient Philosophy (UCCAP), an extensive community of scholars interested in Ancient Philosophy across the UC system.

We welcome inquiries about opportunities for graduate study and research in ancient philosophy at UC San Diego.
