The education and research of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics involves not only full-time faculty members in this department, but also a large number of faculty members from other departments and external research institutes.

This is a clear indication of the breadth of fields handled by aerospace engineering, and a wide range of education and research, including fields that cannot be covered by full-time faculty members, are conducted by faculty members from other departments and external research institutes.

Specifically, the Department of Advanced Energy Engineering (Kashiwa Campus) of the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, the Department of Advanced Interdisciplinary Engineering (Komaba II Campus), the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (Komaba II Campus), and the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS) of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) ( Sagamihara) faculty members can be selected as supervisors for master’s and doctoral programs.
