The Master of Arts in Religious Studies (AMRS) is a one-year program for students looking to develop a broad academic grounding in religious studies.
It is an ideal program for professionals looking to connect their current field of practice to the study of religion (e.g. law, medicine, business, education, journalism, the arts) to religion.
All students in the AMRS program take a minimum of 9 courses. AMRS students work with their assigned faculty advisor to develop a course of study that best fits their personal, professional, and academic goals. Students may focus on a specific area of study or may choose to study across various disciplines. AMRS students may also take courses in other departments outside of the Divinity School. The program culminates in an oral examination of a paper written for a class.
Students may complete the program in one year by enrolling full-time. Part-time students may take up to 3 years to complete the program.
