Brown University’s one-year, on-campus, STEM master of science in innovation management and entrepreneurship combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills for success in the rapidly evolving world of business and technology.
Brown’s master of science in innovation management and entrepreneurship, taught by top-tier faculty at the School of Engineering and accomplished practitioners, offers a rigorous curriculum that equips you with core business skills in finance, strategy, marketing, technology evaluation, decision making, globalization and management. You will learn how to leverage technology for competitive advantage, manage technological change and integrate innovation into business strategy. Emphasis on creativity techniques and design thinking processes foster innovation; crucial skills for developing novel solutions and addressing complex challenges in business and society.
In addition to the year-long career development program, the PRIME@Work co-curricular internship offers you valuable work experience in the industry of your choosing, creating networking opportunities to enhance your academic journey.
Students also participate in an immersive experience, visiting major innovation hubs, meeting with founders, policy leaders, and executives, and exploring entrepreneurship in an international context. This immersive experience enhances classroom learning and provides valuable insight into how different regions foster innovation and growth.
Upon completion, you’ll be well-prepared to lead cutting-edge initiatives within start-up ventures and/or established organizations. As part of the program, you can partake in a week-long immersion trip enabling you to have direct interactions with leaders across diverse industries such as big tech, fintech, venture capital, AI and more. This distinct feature translates classroom learnings into a real-world context and fosters valuable networking connections for career advancement.

- Dedicated career planning and professional coaching support through the Center for Career Exploration
- Access to all core engineering facilities including machine certification through the Brown Design Workshop, and The Nelson Center for Entrepreneurship, Brown Student Organizations.
Additional Information:
International students who complete the program on campus may utilize Optional Practical Training (OPT), enhancing their career opportunities in the global marketplace. The OPT STEM extension further allows eligible STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) graduates to extend their work authorization for an additional 24 months, totaling 36 months of practical experience in their field.
Brown undergraduates can apply to this program as a fifth year master’s degree.
