The master’s in biomedical engineering program equips you with the multidisciplinary expertise for a career at the forefront of healthcare technology. Unlike many other engineering degrees, this program offers unique flexibility, allowing you to customize your education and specialize in one or two research areas, including: tissue engineering/regenerative medicine, neuroengineering/imaging, biomaterials/nanotechnology and biomechanics.
This program offers multiple degree options, differentiated by a thesis:
- Master of Science (Sc.M.): Coursework and thesis with research or design track. Typically can be completed in 2 years.
- Master of Engineering (M.Eng.): Coursework only and can be completed in 1 to 2 years.
In addition to courses in engineering, biology, neuroscience, public health, computer science and other related fields, you can conduct research with faculty at the Warren Alpert Medical School. You’ll also have opportunities to gain valuable clinical experience at nearby teaching hospitals and engage in stimulating internships and co-ops at companies commercializing biomedical technologies.
These opportunities give you both the intellectual and the practical skills required for developing today’s emerging science into useful biomedical technology and therapies.
