What you can expect in our master’s program
The master’s degree program in Water Science and Engineering at KIT offers you an interdisciplinary, research-oriented education at the intersection of water-related engineering and natural sciences. The standard period of study is 4 semesters and you will earn 120 ECTS credit points (CP).
In this study program, you will learn how to develop strategies and technical solutions for the sustainable use and protection of water resources. You will navigate the tension between the efficient use of limited water resources, their protection, coping with extreme weather events, and the impact of global change on water and material cycles.
The program provides you with a deep understanding of the fundamentals of engineering and natural sciences, as well as interdisciplinary skills. You will apply theoretical knowledge to quantitative models and learn to analyze and model complex systems using quantitative methods.
In this study program, you will specialize in one of the following four profiles, each designed to align with current career fields:
- Water Technologies & Urban Water Cycle
- Fluid Mechanics & Hydraulic Engineering
- Hydrological Dynamics & Hazards
- Sustainable Management of Rivers and Floodplains
The wide range of courses available, even within the various profiles, allows you to tailor your academic program to your individual needs. You’ll choose your areas of focus during your first semester with the guidance of a mentor.
