The Legal Studies major provides a liberal arts education across traditional disciplines, focusing on law, legal processes, legal institutions, and their operation in society. In addition to courses in Legal Studies, students can take a wide range of courses offered by other units, including SociologyPsychologyReligious StudiesPolitical ScienceEducational PolicyAfrican American StudiesPhilosophyGender and Women’s StudiesAmerican Indian StudiesChicanx/e & Latinx/e StudiesEnglish, and History.

The curriculum is designed around five themes, each of which is associated with a group of courses, and each of which incorporates comparative and historical approaches.
