The Bachelor of Science in Law and Economics is a 56-unit major available to current USC students who are interested in gaining a deep, interdisciplinary understanding of how the law structures and influences economic activity, and how economic reasoning and empirical analysis can illuminate the operation of law. By combining rigorous training in legal reasoning, economic theory and quantitative methods, this major equips students to evaluate how law shapes markets, incentives and policy outcomes, and how economic forces, in turn, inform the creation and interpretation of legal rules. Students in this distinctive program gain comprehensive knowledge of the economic and regulatory complexities of the digital era, understanding the economic consequences of innovation such as AI, its effect on labor markets and productivity, as well as the legal challenges it poses in areas such as privacy
