Why Duke?
- There is no one exactly like you. We make it easy to chart your own academic path based on your interests. Our Bachelor of Science (BS) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) are the largest majors at Duke. The BS degree further offers specialized tracks in Software Systems, Data Science, and AI & Machine Learning. There are also opportunities to combine CS with other subjects, such as our two minors, a double major with Electrical & Computer Engineering, and interdepartmental majors in Statistics+CS on Data Science, Linguistics+CS, Math+CS on Data Science, and more.

- Undergraduate research opportunities abound at Duke. Over the summer, you can join CS+, Code+, or Data+, which are 10-week summer research internships. During the academic year, take one of our hands-on project courses, pursue independent study with our faculty for Graduation with Distinction, or participate in Bass Connections, one of Duke’s most unique programs predicated on collaborative and interdisciplinary inquiry.

- Be a part of a community. Become an undergraduate teaching assistant (UTA) to help your fellow students. Check out the Innovation Co-Lab and its Roots courses to pick up useful and trending technology tools. Participate in student-run Hackathons, such as HackDuke, or the International Collegiate Programming Contest, where Duke has advanced to the World Finals in nine of the last 13 years. Become a fellow of DTech and SPIRE, programs designed to support diverse groups of Duke undergraduates in choosing careers in computer science and other STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields.
