专业介绍

The Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL) graduate program was the first of its kind in the United States, established by Professor Raji Rammuny in the University of Michigan’s Department of Middle East Studies. The Raji M. Rammuny Scholarship has been established by the professor’s family and friends to encourage and support outstanding incoming students who are interested in pursuing a TAFL MA. Recipients of this annual scholarship will receive a one-time award of $3,000.

Criteria for selection

Applicants must:

  • meet MES department admission requirements into the TAFL program;
  • be accepted by Rackham Graduate School and plan to enroll full-time in the TAFL program beginning in Fall semester;
  • have maintained excellence in academic achievements;
  • demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment for teaching Arabic as reflected in the letters of support in their application and in the separate required statement of purpose for this scholarship. 

Students admitted to the MA in Arabic Studies TAFL program will be sent additional information regarding the application and selection process for this scholarship.
