专业介绍

The major in American Studies invites students to examine what “America” means across a range peoples, cultures, and institutions, and how those meanings take shape over time and place. Students investigate how societies form and fragment, how dreams and aspirations are imagined and realized, how narratives are constructed and contested, and how histories are written and rewritten. Courses draw on interdisciplinary perspectives from the humanities and social sciences to analyze questions of culture, power, and representation in the United States and in global and comparative contexts.
