About the programme

How can we think critically about international migration across everyday experience, crisis, and politics? What is the role of borders, humanitarianism, climate change, labour, and postcolonialism in human mobility across the world, past and present? The programme in Advanced Migration Studies engages with these questions, providing a unique opportunity for students to engage with questions about migration through study and practice.

What makes the programme at UCPH unique?

The AMIS programme is an ambitious, English-language degree in migration studies. Based at an active research centre, it combines teaching, research, and a strong practice dimension, including internship possibilities. We emphasise student participation and engagement through events, workshops, and an annual student conference. A close supervision system ensures students receive personalised guidance throughout the master thesis process.

Why is this programme relevant?

Migration is both one of the most politically contentious and widely misrepresented topics today. Our programme promotes a critical, reflexive and historically situated approach to migration.
