NYU Stern’s Master of Science in Accounting program is a licensure-qualifying program registered with the New York State Education Department (NYSED). Graduates of this program satisfy the educational requirements for CPA licensure in New York State. For CPA licensure requirements in other states, we encourage students to refer to specific state board information (https://nasba.org/stateboards/) as the information is different for every state and may change so it is important that you refer to this website for the most current information.
To satisfy the educational requirements for CPA licensure in New York State, candidates must complete a minimum of 33 semester hours in professional accounting and 36 semester hours in general business across their cumulative undergraduate and graduate coursework. Academic advising pathways are utilized to ensure that students’ individual course distributions satisfy all state-mandated core content areas under the CPA Evolution model.
