Program Learning Outcomes for the BA Degree with a Major in Asian Studies and a Major Concentration in Transnational Asian Studies

Upon completing the BA Degree with a major in Asian Studies, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a broad historical and geographic knowledge about Asia as a transnational region.
  2. Demonstrate the cultural literacy necessary for studying abroad and/or practicing internationally-based professions by exhibiting interactional and intercultural abilities and knowledge.

Additionally, upon completing the BA Degree with a major in Asian Studies and a major concentration in Transnational Asian Studies, students will be able to:

  1. Design and execute independent research on Asia by using either social scientific or humanistic methods.
  2. Produce clear, coherent, and persuasive written work and oral presentations that integrate evidence and analysis to address issues related to Asia.
  3. Compare cultural perspectives, articulate the significance of Asia in global contexts, and apply cross-cultural communication skills in diverse settings.
