* The Department of Physics and Astronomy will be suspending admission to the Biophysics BS major effective Fall 2026 for continuing students and Fall 2027 for new admits. Additionally, the department will be submitting a proposal to discontinue the Biophysics major effective Fall 2027. All continuing Biophysics majors (including those who are entering as new students in Fall 2026), will be able to continue with the Biophysics major. During the Biophysics BS program phase-out, the department will continue to support our Biophysics majors and ensure timely degree completion. We expect to continue to offer biophysics-related courses in the foreseeable future. If you have any questions regarding the suspension and proposed discontinuation, please do not hesitate to contact the Physics Undergraduate Advisors.

Courses taken to fulfill any of the requirements for either major must be taken for a letter grade.

The major requirements listed below are effective beginning Fall 2022. Students who entered a physics major prior to Fall 2022 will need to follow the major requirements listed on their Degree Audit Report (DAR). For questions about which set of major requirements to follow, please check with a physics counselor.
