  • Iranian Studies (major)Students majoring in Iranian Studies may combine the major with specialization in other fields to enhance their career opportunities. Due to the number of additional courses required, they are advised to consider this option early in their academic career.Preparation for the Major (Required):
    • One year of elementary language: Iranian 1A/B/C (Elementary Persian) OR Iranian 20A/B/C (Accelerated Elementary Persian) OR equivalent through Departmental Language Placement Exam.
      AND
    • Iranian 55 (Gender and Sexuality in Arts and Literatures of Iran and Middle East) OR Iranian M60 (Achaemenid Civilization and Empire of Alexander)
    Transfer Students
    Transfer applicants to the Iranian Studies major with 90 or more units must complete the following introductory courses prior to admission to UCLA: one year of Persian. Refer to the UCLA Transfer Admission Guide for up-to-date information regarding transfer selection for admission.Major Requirements (11 Courses):
